A Rivière du Loup native son, François D'Amours was only 14 when he first learned to play the saxophone. He immediately fell in love with the instrument, abandoning his earlier dream of playing drums. From then on he focussed on studying music, first at Ste-Foy high school, then at the Colleges in Ste-Foy and St-Laurent, finally completing his studies at the Université de Montréal. His unique style and tone quickly made a name for him, making him much in demand in jazz and popular music circles. He has been seen--and heard!--with such artists as Gino Vannelli (world tour), Michel Cusson, Alain Caron, Paolo Ramos, Garou, On the soundtrack of "The Triplets of Belleville", Michel Pagliaro, Lulu Hughes, Bruno Pelletier, Luck Merville, Corey Hart, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The group Whip Cream, Bob Walsh, The Montreal Symphonic Orchestra, Lara Fabian, Isabelle Boulay, and many, many more. He has also appeared on countless radio, jingles and television shows and recorded with many Quebec and international artists.

François performs on the YAS and YTS82Z Alto and Tenor Saxophones, YSS875 Soprano Saxophone and YBS62 Baritone Saxophone.

 

Natif de Rivière-du-loup, c'est à l'âge de 14 ans que François D'Amours souffle pour la première fois dans un saxophone.  C'est le coup de foudre avec l'instrument même si il avait toujours manifesté l'envie de jouer de la batterie.  Il y consacrera donc toute sa vie et poursuivera  ses études en musique à l'école secondaire Le Campus de Ste-Foy ainsi qu'aux CEGEP de Ste-Foy et de St-Laurent ainsi qu'à l'Université de Montréal.  Sa sonorité et son style unique feront vite de lui quelqu'un de très en demande dans le milieu tant du jazz que de la musique populaire. On a pu le voir et l'entendre aux côtés de Gino Vannelli en tournée mondiale, Michel Cusson, Alain Caron, Paolo Ramos, Garou, Sur la bande sonore des "Triplettes de Belleville", Lulu Hughes, Corey Hart, L'orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Michel Pagliaro, Bruno Pelletier, Luck Merville, Le groupe Whip Cream, Lynda Lemay, Bob Walsh, Lara Fabian, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Paolo Ramos, Isabelle Boulay et bien d'autres.  Dans d'inombrables émissions de télé et radio ainsi que sur disque avec plusieurs artistes québécois et internationaux.
