Jeremy
Brown
A member of the music faculty in the Department of Music since 1990, Dr. Jeremy
Brown is widely recognized not only as a saxophonist, but also as a conductor
and music educator. Before coming to Alberta in 1982 to teach at Grande Prairie
Regional College, Dr. Brown attended Eastman School of Music where he received
a Master of Music degree as a woodwind specialist and the prestigious
Performer's Certificate on Saxophone. Since then, he has performed as a solo
recitalist in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Washington, Ohio,
Indiana, and Michigan. The recipient of an Alberta Culture Performer's Grant in
1986, he has recorded for the CBC and CKUA Radio in Alberta. In 1993, he
received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Conducting and Saxophone from
Ohio State University. Dr. Brown is a regular performer with the Calgary
Philharmonic Orchestra, the Calgary Jazz Orchestra, the Wednesday Nite Band,
and with Eric Friedenberg. He has performed with Johnny Mathis, Paul Anka, Mel
Torme, Rich Little and for the touring productions of A Chorus Line and Annie.
Jeremy Brown performs on a matched set of Silver Plated Yamaha Custom Soprano,
Alto and Tenor 875 Series Saxophones.
