Name: Scott Atkins
Instrument: Percussion
Based out of Pointe-Claire, Quebec,Scott Atkinsis the Percussion Arranger for the Kingston Grenadiers Drum Corps in Kingston, Ontario. With over 20 years of experience in the Marching Music Arts, he is also involved in several areas of the music industry as a performer, educator, music arranger, recording drummer and producer.
 
Scott is a clinician for Yamaha Canada Music and an active member of the Vic Firth Education Team, a group of educators networking and sharing resources with the objective of growing the percussion education business. He is also involved in product research and development with manufacturers in the drum-making industry, and an honorary charter member of the International Association of Traditional Drummers.
 
After aging out of competitive junior drum corps with the Kiwanis Kavaliers of Kitchener, he worked with several groups in Ontario, including the Lampliters, the Empire Loyalists, the Blue Saints, the Kavalier Kadets, the Philippine Heritage Marching Band, and the Kingston Grenadiers.  He arranged music for the Lampliters in 1991, the Empire Loyalists from 1993-1995, and has been the percussion arranger for the Kingston Grenadiers since 1998. 
 
Scott is also a drum set player, with both performance and recording credits to his name, including a clinic tour sharing the stage with world-renowned drummer Steve Smith.  In March 2006, Scott began conducting rudimental drumming workshops, and traveling to Germany to teach at the Hamburg School of Music. In the last 10 years, his strong belief in the consistency of good educators and a focus on the fundamentals has provided his drumlines with successful and competitive percussion programs. In 2002, the Kingston Grenadiers finished 5th in percussion performance at the DCA World Open Class preliminaries, and for many seasons, has been a respected member of the top ten drumlines of DCA.
 
Scott has been as an educator and consultant with Yamaha Canada Music since 1999. He is a graduate of the Audio Recording Academy in Ottawa.
 
The Grenadiers play on the MS9214KG, a custom colour SFZ snare drum.
