Yamaha Network Receiver

the centre of your universe

Yamaha Network Receivers allow you to play MP3, WMA and WAV music from up to four PC’s on your personal local area network (LAN). The receiver can even be used as a client for Yamaha’s MusicCAST home music server, seamlessly integrating with the MCX2000 digital audio server within your LAN.

The Network Receiver also provides the ability to listen to any of the thousands of stations available on Internet radio when connected to a broadband Internet connection. By using the included MP3 vTuner data service that is enabled, looking for content on the Internet couldn’t be easier, from your favorite Rock, Pop, or R&B to PodCasts that cater to your music interests.

With a USB terminal on the front panel you now have a convenient way to play music from USB flash drives and portable USB music players. Yamaha Network Receivers get you connected to the vast music content available anywhere on your LAN and on the web.

Q

The Network Receiver can’t seem to find any music folders on my PC even after I have added them to the list in Windows Media Connect?

A

Make sure that you have enabled the folder sharing option in Windows Media Connect.  You can set folder sharing to start automatically on windows start-up or you can manually enable it yourself every time you start-up windows.

Q

What can the USB Input on the front panel be used for?

A

The USB Input has 2 purposes on the Network Receiver:
1.  To play music files that you have stored on a USB Flash Memory device.
2.  To connect a portable MP3 player that supports USB connection. (Except for iPod)
Note:  These are the only 2 functions available for the USB input.  It will not be compatible with other devices such as External HDD/CD-R/DVD, USB Hub, wireless USB Receiver etc.

Q

Can I play music files from my iPod while connected to the front panel USB input?

A

To play music files from an iPod on the Network Receiver you must use the optional Yamaha iPod Dock (YDS-10).  However, if it is an iPod Shuffle, music files stored in the USB memory region can be played if the file format is compatible.

Q

I have a Yamaha MusicCAST system.  Can I access this with the Network Receiver?

A

YES!  All of the music content that you have stored on your MusicCAST server can be enjoyed through your Network Receiver.  Just make sure that they are both connected to the same Router and Network.
Note:  The MCX2000 server is compatible for this

Q

I brought my laptop from work home and connected it to my home network but the Network Receiver was unable to access it?

A

When you log on to this computer at home make sure that you log on to the local computer only and not to a domain.  Laptops that are set-up for office networks sometimes have restrictions that will not allow them to share folder information.  By logging onto the local computer only and not the domain you should solve this problem.

Q

How many songs in each folder can the Network Receiver recognize?

A

Within each music folder, a maximum of 500 songs can be browsed.  If the folder contains more than this amount of music files, try dividing them into more folders.
The maximum depth of sub-folders that can be recognized is 8.
