1080p-Compatible HDMI Output for Both Video and Audio

HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) output lets you connect a single cable, which will carry both video and audio signals to your receiver or amplifier with no loss of digital quality. 1080p compatibility means that your home theater system can reproduce DVD movies and digital TV sources with HD quality.

216 MHz/12-Bit Video DAC with Noise Shaped Video™ and DCDi™ Progressive
Scanning

The 216MHz/12-bit high performance video DAC ensures superior image quality with all video sources. Noise Shaped Video™ technology, from Analog Devices, uses oversampling and advanced techniques such as multi-bit sigma-delta processing and bit-shuffling to improve converter performance by moving converter noise to an area of the spectrum where it can be removed by an analog filter. This improves the accuracy of signal representation, allowing images to be displayed at much higher resolutions.

Other advanced technologies used to maximize image quality are Faroudja DCDi™ Processing, Motion Adaptive Noise Reduction, Cross Color Suppression, Aspect Ratio Conversion and TrueLife Enhancer.

Progressive Scanning (NTSC/PAL) Progressive scanning provides maximum resolution for a smoother, filmlike image when viewed on a high definition TV or large screen. This DVD player offers progressive scanning of both NTSC and PAL signals.
DVD-Audio/Super Audio CD Playback This player is compatible with both DVDAudio and Super Audio CD. These multichannel music formats provide a surround sound music experience that is much more natural and lifelike than normal stereo.
Four Two-Channel High Performance Burr-Brown Audio DACs The audio DACs play an important role in determining a DVD player’s audio quality. The DVD-S1800 uses four two-channel high performance Burr-Brown 192kHz/24-bit audio DACs for the stereo output section and the 5.1-channel output section. This ensures that each channel delivers sound with the highest possible realism and transparency.
Audio Direct Mode Selecting the Audio Direct mode cuts the video circuitry out of the signal path, so there is no chance of it affecting the sound quality. The front panel illumination is also turned off to prevent noise interference from the LCD.
    Advanced Features

MP3, JPEG, DivX® and WMA Playback

This player will play discs recorded in the MP3 (audio), JPEG (images), DivX® (video) and WMA (audio) formats.

Bass Management This player provides Bass Management processing and a subwoofer/bass management output terminal. Bass management is important for DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD multi-channel playback, as it properly routes the bass frequencies for best performance from a multi-speaker home theater system. With normal 2-channel (stereo) CDs, the bass frequencies are routed to the subwoofer, so you can enjoy “2.1” channel sound with more powerful bass.
Enjoy MP3 Music and JPEG Pictures Simultaneously

Load a disc or plug in a USB device that contains both MP3 music and JPEG picture data and the disc menu will appear on the TV monitor. Select any MP3 music track, then also select a JPEG picture file and you can watch the pictures on the screen while the music plays.

Wide Disc Compatibility

This versatile unit is designed to play almost any kind of DVD and CD format/disc, including: DVD-Video, Audio CD, Video CD (VCD), Super Video CD (SVCD), DVD-RW/-R/-R DL, DVD-RW/-R VR with CPRM, DVD+RW/+R/+R DL and CD-R/RW.

Easy Operation with GUI (Graphical User Interface) This player makes operation extremely simple by displaying a variety of clearly understandable GUI menus right on the TV or monitor screen. It’s easy to select and adjust any desired function with the remote control.
Widescreen Modes for HDMI Two modes can be selected for optimum viewing on widescreen monitors via HDMI: Superwide helps minimize distortion with a 4:3 picture by non-linear stretching (center position of screen is stretched less than the sides) on a 16:9 screen.
Perfect Match for Yamaha AV Receivers In addition to having a similar appearance, the DVD-S663 is designed for easy operation with Yamaha AV receivers that have SCENE, such as the RX-V663. A Remote Power On function can be used by connecting the Remote Input of the DVD-S663 to the Remote Output of the RX-V663. Playback of an inserted DVD can be started simply by pushing the SCENE button on the receiver.
